These are projects that I've worked on in the past that are not in one of my main mediums that I typically work in.
In the fall of 2021, I had a project for a class where I had to make an eveningwear piece in half-scale. I made a gorgeous gown. When I was finished with the project, I didn't want to fold it up and have it get all bunched up and wrinkled, so I looked for some half-scale clothing hangers. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any. I even asked my teacher if she had recommendations and she didn't know where to get them either. So I decided to make my own. I spent the next six months developing prototypes out of cardboard and other materials until I got one in a shape I liked. I then laser printed it on a sheet of acrylic. When I had a functional version, I added my school's logo and the year to mass produce them as a graduation gift for my peers graduating the same year as me.
In March 2020, the life seemed to come to a halt as the COVID-19 pandemic was spreading rapidly. It just so happened that at the end of that month, I was set to start my internship at a weaving studio. My boss also ran a weaving group that ran weekly on Zoom. I popped in to a meeting a week or two before the internship started, just to see what it was like (as I had no weaving experience at the time.) She showed this technique of how to use sewing pins and cardboard to make a loom. On the 3rd day of my internship, I said something along the lines of "Your DIY loom is great, but I have an idea to make something like that using a shoebox." She then let me spend approximately the rest of that day working on making a loom out of a shoebox. This is the result.
I started by finding a shoebox and taking its measurements. From there, I made a blueprint, mapping out what I need to cut and where.

This is the final result of my test using the loom. Considering, it was one of my earliest weavings and I used a shoebox as the frame of the loom, I'm quite happy with the results!
